[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

My co-run digital label Absent Fever and the physical label JAXART are teaming up to present a compilation highlighting the enormous influx of young musicians in LA. On April 3rd, Absent Fever and JAXART will be releasing a pressing of 1,000 CD’s which will be given away for free across the US, and also available online digitally. The compilation is comprised of 7 songs, one from each of the 7 artists who represent the city’s music community. The artists involved in the project are:

Caves ((whose cover of “Didn’t I” is above))

Dreams.

Eliot

Wondr

Kontent

Tuesday Glass

Honeydrip

Absent Fever and Jaxart are also presenting a number of shows in LA to support the compilation.

On Wednesday night the first date of the Holy Spirits, Mutual Benefit, Steffaloo, with visual artist Think or Smile tour began with the addition of Jeans Wilder, which was presented by smokeDONTsmoke and JAXART. The anticipation for this show built by the minute. I arrived to the incredibly charming Lot 1 well aware that it the performances themselves would not only be magical but as would be getting the opportunity to meet/reuinte with artists and others of this mind-boggling community whom I so endearingly admire. The rare and inconceivable gem that all the artists, musical and visual alike, possess is their dexterous ability to transport the audience into a transcendental place, undefinable by past and future the audience is left in awe. Unfortunately I had to leave early against my sulking will but the videos and pictures so kindly evoke all that I expected but so dejectedly missed and hope that they do the same for you. Above is a video of Mutual Benefit performing Desert Island Feeling live at Lot 1 with Nathaniel Whitcombs stunning artwork behind.

On an entirely irrelevant note I’ve for whatever reason decided not to make a separate post for dearest tumblr tuesday but if you do feel so compelled to recommend verb/re/verb for the tumblr directory it’d be greatly appreciated and you can do so here.
